Another Way To Communicate
January 16, 2006
Welcome to a new year, a new set of postage rates, and a new method to share information. Welcome to my blog. What is a blog, you might ask? It’s a Web log where I will be posting several times a week to share and discuss current activities and perspectives in the commercial mailing industry.
There are many sources for information in this industry, but they are often a one-way street. Oh sure, there are the outstanding list serves and forums that exist, but these don’t always offer the chance to delve deeper into an industry-related issue. Moreover, they are often used as a sort of “help desk” for solving crisis situations.
As an alternative, I am hoping that this blog can become an opportunity to pitch a perspective on a current industry item and hear your feedback. These interactive postings can in turn lead to deeper discussions and articles as we collectively collaborate.
To provide a real example, consider the perspective posted on January 4 by Gene Del Polito (http://www.postcom.org/public/articles/2006articles/2006.inquiring.minds.htm). He ends his article with the comment “For sure, this is not time for mail-related businesses to slumber. It’s time to get involved and stay informed.” Well, here is a new opportunity to do just that.
So, look forward to the beginning of what should hopefully be an exciting exchange of ideas. And since we’re kicking things off here, please let me know what you think about this new form of communication.
